Experience Schloss Hellbrunn Salzburg and its trick fountains

Hellbrunn Palace Salzburg and its castle park you can visit in all seasons. In summer, a walk through the castle park is fun. If it's really hot, then a visit to the water features will cool you down. If you're not careful, it can even result in a wet surprise. The gargoyles are unpredictable. A visit to the trick fountains at Hellbrunn Palace is therefore all the more enjoyable on summer days.

Hellbrunn Palace in Salzburg has been delighting visitors for over 400 years

Water shoots out of a deer's antlers in fountains. Mythical creatures peek out of niches. The Salzburg Prince Archbishop Markus Sittikus planned Hellbrunn Palace as a place of entertainment and relaxation. To this day, the late Renaissance building with its location in the south of the city of Mozart has lost none of its appeal to visitors.

Sparkling pleasure

Even the journey to the castle via Hellbrunner Allee or by boat across the Salzach is an experience. The journey through time continues in the permanent exhibition "SchauLust" in the rooms of the castle. It goes back to the years 1612 to 1615. At that time master builder Santino Solari created the architecture of the castle. The heart of Hellbrunn Palace are the trick fountains with their grottos, spray fountains and figures from ancient mythology.

Prince Archbishop Markus Sittikus wanted to surprise his guests. He is just as successful today as he was over 400 years ago. Nowhere else does a visit to the castle cause as much laughter as a visit to the trick fountains in Hellbrunn. These can be visited with an audio guide or especially for children. At the 21 stations, it is explained in detail how the system came about. The listener learns what practical jokes the prince-archbishop wanted to play. The audio guide also explains which secret places are hidden behind figures and hedges.

Three at once

Anyone who would like to explore Hellbrunn Palace in a private themed tour also has the opportunity to do so. The tour at the blue hour promises special experiences when the sun sinks over the castle in the evening. The technique of the fountains, the mythical world of ancient goddesses and heroes or a look behind the scenes of the castle offer further insights.

At the end of the castle visit, you can relax in the castle park with its beds, meadows and fish ponds. The youngsters can now let off steam to their heart's content on the adventure playground. The art installations of the "SkulpturenPark Hellbrunn" are also worth seeing. The motto "All good things come in threes" applies to Hellbrunn tickets. The price includes a visit to the trick fountains and the castle exhibition, each with an audio guide, as well as a visit to the folklore museum in the nearby monthly castle.

TravelWorldOnline has been online since 2001. Their topics are trips to Savor, wine tourism worldwide and slow travel. During her studies Monika Fuchs spent some time in North America, where she - partly together with Petar Fuchs - traveled to the USA and Canada and spent a research year in British Columbia. This intensified her thirst for knowledge, which she satisfied for 6 years as an adventure guide for Rotel Tours and then for 11 years as a tour guide for Studiosus Reisen around the world. She was constantly expanding her travel regions, but curiosity still gnawed at her: "What's beyond the horizon? What else is there to discover in this city? Which people are interesting here? What do they eat in this region?" As a freelance travel journalist (her articles have appeared in DIE ZEIT, 360° Canada, 360° USA, etc.), she is now looking for answers to these questions as a travel writer and travel blogger in many countries around the world. Petar Fuchs produces the videos on this blog as well as on YouTube. Monika Fuchs from TravelWorldOnline is among Germany's top 50 bloggers in 2021.
