A luxury lodge in New Hampshire

The Harley meeting takes place in Meredith, New Hampshire. However, as soon as we turn onto the town's main street, we find ourselves immediately in the middle of a line of Harley Davidson drivers. Their motorbikes surround us with their dull hum that you surely know. It is the unmistakable sound of a Harley, from which you can immediately tell which production it comes from. Although we actually like this noise, it is unpleasant in the immediate vicinity of our accommodation. Because this is in the middle of Meredith, more precisely in the Boathouse Lodge in Mill Falls at the Lake Church Landing. It is a luxury lodge in New Hampshire on Lake Winnepesaukee.

A little confusing

When we follow the instructions of our navigation device, which directs us to a parking lot, we are faced with a building that initially confuses us. It looks a bit like the many boutiques and small malls with their nice handicraft shops that are in New England so many there. We enter the building somewhat hesitantly and find a room inside that is tastefully furnished with wood, hand-woven fabrics and lavish floral decorations - as well as a small reception.

We go to this one and ask first if we are in the right place. Despite this, we still doubt whether we arrived at our accommodation. The many souvenirs in front of and on the counter make us unsure whether we are in the lodge where we are supposed to spend the night or in a nicely furnished shop. Fortunately, the two ladies put our minds at ease and confirm that we are in the right place. They check us in and show us the way to our room, which is located in a side wing of the hotel - the Boathouse Lodge.

Cozy room in the Boatlodge

And here we are in for a surprise: although I've stayed in great hotels many times, what we see here when we open the door to our room takes my breath away. Because this is one of the most beautiful hotel rooms I've seen so far. It is paneled entirely in wood and has the appearance of a room in a log cabin. The bed, with its thick red covers, is the first thing that catches our eye, and it immediately moves on to a cozy reading corner with a comfortable window seat, from which we have a direct view of Lake Winnepesaukee. A real birch trunk separates the corner from the rest of the room, giving a real touch of nature in this wonderful wooden room. I've dreamed of a corner like this all my life. Retire comfortably with a book, browse through it and in between let your gaze wander over the lake - a dream!

A corner to relax in our luxury lodge in New Hampshire

In front of the bed is a red checkered sofa, in front of which a chest serves as a substitute for a table. From there you have a direct view of the fireplace, which is operated with an artificial flame. A tasteful seating area consisting of two leather chairs and a small side table completes the ensemble. Next to it is a desk made of rough birch trunks, which allows for the most necessary office work. However, I dare to doubt whether one would even want to work in this room. I just want to put my feet up here and feel good.

A log cabin style spa bath

The bathroom is similarly stunning: a two-person whirlpool tub is built into an alcove with a window overlooking the lake while you soak. Two sinks speed up the morning ritual in the bathroom for a couple, and those in a hurry can use the large brick shower. There really isn't anything to miss here.

Comfortable seating areas for chatting

The rest of the hotel is similarly cozy. On the ground floor there are several large lounges, all with a view of the lake. There you will find seating areas to relax, a table with a chess game that opponents are waiting for, a large billiard table, a round window sill that invites you to chat with friends and lots of wing chairs that I would like to try out.

The Boathouse Lodge really fulfills every dream of a lodge. However, there is a small drawback: the next day, it is difficult for us to say goodbye when we have to set off in the direction of the White Mountains. We would have loved to spend a few days here just relaxing, unwinding, taking a boat out on the lake and relaxing in one of the lakeside lounge chairs. We just didn't want to do anything.

What do they eat in this region?"
