Bath in the Standard Room at the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel

Overnight in Gothenburg

The night before our departure River cruise on the Göta Canal we stay at the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel in Gothenburg in Sweden. We chose this hotel because of its location near the departure point of the river cruise ships. The furnishing of the Radisson Hotels was also decisive. In any case, we shouldn't be disappointed. The Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel is located in the Lindholmen Science Park in the Lindholmen district on the north bank of the Göta Älv River. Lindholmen was Gothenburg's shipyard. Today, however, research and education play a major role there. The Lindholmen Conference Center is right next to the hotel. A free ferry (weekdays between 07:00 and 19:00) connects this bank with the city center on the other side of the river. It is 200 m from the hotel. From there it is only a few hundred meters to the departure point for the river boats.

The Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel in Gothenburg - Lifestyle Hotel on the Harbor

The Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel is a lifestyle hotel. We definitely liked the bathroom area. This is separated from the room by a glass wall. The bathroom also consists of three parts - a bathtub in a separate room, a toilet with a rain shower and a vanity with a shelf for towels, a hairdryer and whatever else you need to freshen up. A curtain ensures privacy between the bedroom and bathroom.

The mattress on our bed is neither too soft nor too hard. Just right to spend a relaxed night. We find the bed linen to be pleasant, as it leaves that smooth feeling on the skin when you lie in it. It's just a shame that you pull out the bed sheet with the duvet and rummage through it while you sleep. Why can't you use fitted sheets whose sheets can't be out of shape?

Room with lots of space

There is also a sofa and a table in our room where we can use our laptop. I would have liked a desk here as well. However, we find the furnishing of the room with coffee and espresso machine pleasant. Everything is there what you need to brew a cup of coffee or tea. We find cold drinks in the minibar. The standard room we are staying in is big enough that we can stow our luggage without it getting in the way.

From our room on the 10th floor we also have a view of the city and the harbor and can watch the sun go down around midnight and the moon rise over the city during the short night.

The restaurant at the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel

We also really like the restaurant on the ground floor. We eat in the hotel's a la carte restaurant, in the Cuckoos Nest. There we are led to a table from which we can watch what is happening in the harbor. From time to time container ships or ferries pass by, which dock in the port of Gothenburg. Dark wood, white tiles and collages with newspaper clippings, pin slips and notes on the walls as well as an all-round window front give the restaurant a lifestyle ambience that we already encountered on our trip through Smaland in the furniture kingdom.

Good kitchen

The cuisine at the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel turns out to be tasty. Petar chooses an asparagus salad with rocket, citronette and brioches for the starter, I choose steak tartare with salt crisps marinated in soy. Unusual but tasty! That whets the appetite for more. For my main course I have the special, a sirloin with pesto and potato gratin, and Petar tries the hake with fennel, almond croquettes and lobster soup. For dessert we finally share a chocolate pie served with buckthorn sorbet, almond cream and crunchy almonds.

The breakfast buffet is also impressive: bread, croissants, a selection of muesli with fruit and yoghurt, eggs of your choice and hot dishes make every hotel guest happy.

Our conclusion: we feel comfortable in this hotel in Gothenburg

We feel very comfortable in this hotel in Gothenburg. The rooms meet our requirements. They are also nicely furnished. The service is friendly and eager to please. The food is delicious if you are open to the extraordinary. The location is ideal for our purposes - access to the departure point for the Göta Canal boats - but also ideal for conference attendees. This makes the Radisson Blu Riverside a hotel that we would love to come back to. We can recommend it as an overnight stay before a river cruise on the Göta Canal as well as for business trips.

What do they eat in this region?"
