North American coastal landscapes
We went on a photo trip from the west to the east coast. Below the photos are beaches in California. We create scenes from whale watching in the Inside Passage off Alaska and British Columbia. There is a three-master on the coast of Nova Scotia, but also a lighthouse on the Bay of Casco near Portland in Maine. How do you like the seagull at a ferry dock on Martha's Vineyard? The arctic waters show glaciers, the mouth of the Mackenzie River and an inland lake where ice floes swim. America's most popular coasts are very diverse and therefore interesting.
America's most popular coastline with our followers
Actually, we expected California and the photos of our whale watching trips to be America's most popular coastline. However, they did the worst in the number of likes in the foreseen period. But see for yourself:
The Hector in Pictou
Most of all, our followers liked our photo of the "Hector". This is now in the port of Pictou in Nova Scotia. Maybe it's the reflection of the three-master in the water of Northumberland Bay? This photo got 261 likes.
Portland Headlight in Maine
Right behind it is the photo of the Portland Headlights in Casco Bay. On that day we had a dream weather for shooting. The sea was deep blue and the visibility so clear that we could see the archipelago in the Casco Bay well. This photo definitely got 258 likes.
Columbia Glacier in Alaska
A photo from the far north makes it into the third place. This photo is a few years old. I recorded this in a year when Columbia Glacier lost tons of ice. The entire bay in front of the glacier was filled with ice floes. Therefore, the ferry from which I took this photo could no longer reach the glacier front. The photo received 253 likes.
Humpback whale off Newfoundland
Finally, this photo of one is in fourth place Humpback Whalediving into the depths of the sea just off the coast of Newfoundland. However, seeing a whale's fluke is always a bad sign for photographers. Because it means that it will take some time for him to come back to the surface of the water to take a breath. However, this photo got 242 likes.
Sunset over the Mackenzie Delta
Our followers on Instagram liked the Arctic. In any case, this photo is from a sunset over the Mackenzie Delta. I took it on the return flight from the Inuit settlement Tuktoyaktuk on the Beaufort Sea to Inuvik in the Northwest Territories. It got 241 likes.
The Portage Lake in Alaska
And again it's off to the far north of America. This photo is from Portage Lake. In fact, it's not a coast, but it's not far from it. In any case, the glaciers at the end of the lake calve into this glacier lake in spring. But it takes a lot of luck to see these ice floes and icebergs as close as this one. Our Instagram friends liked that too, because they gave the photo 224 likes.
At the ferry dock in Martha's Vineyard
Now, surprisingly, with the coasts of the far north of America ranked high, we now have a photo taken at the ferry dock from Martha's Vineyard to Chappaquiddick Island. This seagull made himself comfortable on this wooden pillar and let the wind blow through the plumage. After all, the photo received 203 Likes.

I landed on your side again! We are both big big fans of America, I think 1 whole year would not even be enough to see everything there. What I love so much is that the country is so diverse, there really is something for everyone!

a year is not enough :). I can say that from my own experience, because we have been there regularly since 1985. There is so much to explore. The country is incredibly varied, so you get a new look at America's diversity every time.

Hui, you have already seen a lot of America. I also like the photo with the lighthouse best :) However, I would now be curious which photos of California you had in the selection. I'm always more into the heat, so I do not find Alaska so tempting.

yes, the Maine lighthouse is well received by many: D. From California comes in this collection only the first photo with the wide sandy beach. All others come from other coastal regions of the continent. And by the way: Alaska is also warm in summer, sometimes even hot. Only when you stand directly in front of the glacier, it is cold. But you know that in Austria too, right?

wow, what an interesting result. I have to admit that I like the image of the Arctic best, followed by the Mackenzie Delta and the glaciers.
Probably the three-master but fascinated visually simply the most, or he kidnaps your followers in another world, which is ruled by pirates and buccaneers.
Either way, I think that great photos were taken during your trip. Since you get great desire to travel afterwards.

Thanks, Daniel. Yes, I've heard a lot about the Perito Moreno Glacier. He is said to be one of the few worldwide who are still growing. The glaciers in Alaska are terrific, but most of them are melting.

yes, the coasts of America are incredibly varied. They offer everything from miles of sandy beaches to steep cliffs and wooded coastal areas. It is worthwhile to take a closer look at these.
