The best part 4 star hotel Johann Strauss * Vienna is ideally located between Belvedere Palace, Naschmarkt and Karlsplatz in Vienna. All three can be easily reached on foot from the hotel. And also the city center is not far: just a few steps away from the hotel is the underground station Taubstummengasse, from where the underground line 1 leads directly to the Stephansplatz in the center of Vienna. It can not be more practical. Here you can just leave your car and is in a few minutes in the middle of the action of the Danube metropolis.

The Hotel Johann Strauss is perfect for a city trip to Vienna

We spend two nights in the Hotel Johann Strauss Kremslehner group. It is the youngest hotel in this chain of renowned hotels in the center of Vienna, which has been family-owned for four generations. The hotels are among the city's central hotels. In addition, the Kremslehner Group owns three Italian and one Austrian restaurant and a catering service. In the Johann Strauss Hotel there is only one breakfast restaurant, which offers its guests a well-assorted breakfast buffet: from breakfast cereals to fresh rolls with sausage, cheese and a wide range of jams, eggs and smoked salmon to freshly baked cakes you will find everything here. After breakfast we are lucky that the very small elevator comes right away. If we had come to breakfast earlier, we would have had to go up to our room on foot, like the numerous guests who meet us at the third-floor staircase.

Large room

Our room at the Hotel Johann Strauss is very large and offers more than enough space for two people. Although the window front looks out onto the Favoritenstraße, we do not hear much of the traffic flowing past outside. The double balcony doors ensure that we do not feel disturbed by the street noise. We have a cozy sitting area in the room, a large desk and a dressing table with mirror. The furniture looks a bit antiquated, but fits in with the Art Nouveau elements, which we discover everywhere in the hotel building: beautiful stained glass windows with floral patterns, hanging lamps in Art Nouveau decor and stucco work from the end of the 19. Century. However, the decor of the rooms, the lobby and the breakfast room could have given you a little more imagination to add style to the whole thing.

However, the less smart decor remains one of the few points that we do not like about this hotel. We find the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff very pleasant. Even when parking in the hotel garage, one of the hotel pages helps us, something we only know from hotels in North America. We feel very comfortable in this hotel and its surroundings and can recommend it - with a few minor caveats.

Monika Fuchs and Petar Fuchs are the authors and publishers of the Food and Slow Travel blog  TravelWorldOnline. They have been publishing this blog since 2005. TravelWorldOnline has been online since 2001. Their topics are trips to Savor, wine tourism worldwide and slow travel. During her studies Monika Fuchs spent some time in North America, where she - partly together with Petar Fuchs - traveled to the USA and Canada and spent a research year in British Columbia. This intensified her thirst for knowledge, which she satisfied for 6 years as an adventure guide for Rotel Tours and then for 11 years as a tour guide for Studiosus Reisen around the world. She was constantly expanding her travel regions, but curiosity still gnawed at her: "What's beyond the horizon? What else is there to discover in this city? Which people are interesting here? What do they eat in this region?" As a freelance travel journalist (her articles have appeared in DIE ZEIT, 360° Canada, 360° USA, etc.), she is now looking for answers to these questions as a travel writer and travel blogger in many countries around the world. Petar Fuchs produces the videos on this blog as well as on YouTube. Monika Fuchs from TravelWorldOnline is among Germany's top 50 bloggers in 2021.
