TBEX Ostrava 2018

What makes the TBEX Ostrava 2018 so special?

Right away. This TBEX was unlike any other we've been to. We have a good comparison. This was the fifth TBEX for me and the fourth for Petar. This post is about the international travel bloggers Conference TBEX Ostrava 2018. We attended it in early August Czechia. The United Nations of Travel Bloggers attracted more than 600 travel bloggers from all over the world. We met colleagues from European countries as well as from Australia, Africa, Asia and America.

Venue of the TBEX Ostrava 2018

The venue itself was exceptional. For the first time, the TBEX took place in a country in Central Europe. The Czech Republic hosted the TBEX Ostrava 2018. We particularly welcomed this. This enabled us to travel in our own car. At first I was skeptical, when I saw the photos of the Gong conference center in Ostrava. "This time the TBEX takes place in a steel mill" was my first thought.

All the more surprised we were on site. This has been one of TBEX's best conference centers so far. The event rooms were big enough for all participants to follow the lectures. The technique worked great. Internet access was reliably available even with more than 600 subscribers. If you had to charge your mobile phone battery in between, there were thousands of power outlets in the lobby. Food during the conference was provided. And there were even quiet corners for individual discussions.

Ostrava is a city that is also worth visiting. Here you can find out what you can do in Ostrava , (English)

The Participants

Unlike earlier TBEX conferences, this time only a small percentage of travel bloggers described themselves as beginners. The majority of the participants had several years of experience in blogging. We met many travel bloggers from all over the world. We already know many of them from previous conferences. Everyone was there to optimize and refine their skills. The topic of “professionalization” united the participants. Discussions with colleagues focused on how blogs and social media are improved and managed professionally. The motto "travel blogger as a profession" lay like a unifying umbrella over this conference. And the best thing about it: shortly after the TBEX ends, new contacts develop into new ideas, collaborations and interactions.

The Topics of the Lectures

These expectations of the participants corresponded to all sessions. This was the first TBEX in which Petar and I participated in various sessions for two days. This allowed us to collect as much information and information as possible. The effort is worth it. Nevertheless, we were not even able to visit all lectures that interested us. The selection was too big. The topics revolved around everything that's involved in the professional work as a travel blogger. The perfecting of one's own abilities (photography, video, writing, SEO, social media, etc.) was also the subject of lectures and tips on how to successfully monetize your blog.

The list of speakers was impressive. Among them were not only many of the most successful travel bloggers in the world, but also representatives from Facebook, Booking.com, Get you Guide and other companies that already work successfully with travel bloggers. We found it particularly helpful that we were able to collect a lot of practical tips at this TBEX. These bring us further as professional travel bloggers. The new “Meet the Experts” offer was also very good. We were able to discuss their presentations with the speakers. They willingly gave their advice. Shane Dallas, Conference Director for TBEX Europe and TBEX Africa, wants to expand the concept of professionalising the travel blogger scene even more in the future. We are looking forward to the next TBEX in Europe.

Our Conclusion

The TBEX is aimed at travel bloggers, who run their blog professionally and seriously, and who want to successfully cooperate with companies, destinations and other travel bloggers. Full-time travel bloggers will find a constructive environment for networking with colleagues, companies and destinations. Companies and destinations can meet experienced and professional content and social media creators at TBEX. TBEX shows the way for the travel media of the future. Keep it up, Rick and Shane. We look forward to the next TBEX Europe.

Meanwhile, we were again in the Czech Republic and have tested Czech Republic Holidays in the monastery in the Zeliv monastery in Bohemia. There you can experience contemporary history up close.
