"Whoever can enjoy no longer drinks wine, but costs secrets!"

This sentence from Salvador Dali over the bed in our wine room in the hotel Althof Retz puts me in a wine-spirited mood. This should not leave me until the end of our stay at this hotel. It is not to be overlooked that the wine plays the main role in the hotel Althof Retz.

In the hotel Althof Retz the topic of wine dominates

It is actually no wonder that wine is an issue at the Hotel Althof Retz. The hotel is in the middle of Weinviertel in Lower Austria. Particularly good wines grow there. The city of Retz is surrounded by vineyards. However, during our visit we only see the bare vines, as we are in the winter in this hotel. Nevertheless, this hotel will remain in good memory because of its proximity to the wine.

At any rate, we spend the night in one of the eight winegrower rooms. In each of which a winemaker may present his wines. We even have a wine fridge in the room. In addition to the minibar. In it are wines of the winery Heinzl, which we can taste - perfectly tempered. We have our own private wine tasting. You will then be billed when you leave the hotel.

A hotel with vine and wine

A real vine from the winery Heinzl stands as Pflanzendeko in the room. On the glass wall, which separates the bathroom from the bedroom, is a picture of the Retzer vineyards. In addition, the care products in the VinoSPA are made up of what the wine delivers. They contain grapeseed oil. The exfoliation is made from self-ground wine grains. Cleansing milk, peeling and cream mask smell of fine wine. By the way, as well as my face after this treatment. My highlight during our stay is the facial of Olivia!

My massage starts with a welcome ritual. My shoulders are massaged. Slowly Olivia works with gentle pressure through my hair until she reaches the top of her head. Tension disappears, of which I did not even know that they were there.

Wellness with wine

Only then does she begin the facial treatment. It cleanses my skin with a wine-scented cleaning emulsion. Then she uses a scrub of ground wine grains to remove impurities from the facial skin. Finally, she gently massages a grapeseed oil for me. With circular hand movements it loosens all tense spots on the face. At the same time, I allow myself to be more and more involved in their movements. In the background I listen to soft blues. This additionally facilitates drifting away. Olivia dabs all creamy residue off her face. Then she wears a wine cream mask. This takes time to influence.

Meanwhile, she pampers my feet with a wine balm. This immediately makes the dry areas on my feet velvety again. Finally, Olivia massages the remains of the cream mask into critical areas of the face with circular movements. I can immediately feel how these recover. Then she takes the remains of the cream mask off my face with a warm cloth. After this “pampering moment” wellness facial massage, I definitely feel years younger.

Care series SanVino ensures a wine-savvy spa experience

The products from the spa and care concept SanVino were used in this facial massage. For this, natural products are used directly from the vineyard. Cold-pressed grape seed oil, Hohenlohe red wine and extracts from the grape seed are included. I especially liked the fine smell of wine in this product line. Anyone who goes on holiday at Althof VinoSPA should get a face treatment like this.

Experience the wines of the Cinarinar Retzer wines

Wine is not only in the VinoSPA, but also in the restaurant. We enjoy a wine culinary on our first evening. The wines are perfectly matched to the food. A real treat for gourmets! On the second evening we will taste regional wines in the hotel's own wine cellar with dinner in the Heuriger.

So we celebrate the Weinviertel wines in these days not only in the glass. At the same time we experience them on our skin. Just as in our winegrower's room, which has tuned us to the subtleties of wine.

What do they eat in this region?"
