Here we introduce you to beautiful beaches in Eastern Canada that we discovered on the way and that are among our favorite beaches. Each of these beaches is worth at least one detour, if not a longer stay.
We are located in the Highland Village Museum, an Iona open air museum on Cape Breton Island. Here you can experience the history of the Scots in Nova Scotia up close in a village. We walk from one house to another and go through time.
Suddenly the beach road is no longer called Shore Road, but Belle Cote Beach Road. I find the Scottish-Acadian street names Chemin Old Grand Etang Road or Chemin McCarry Road in Saint Joseph du Moine even more beautiful. We have arrived in the Acadians region on the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton.
Canada's single malt whiskey is distilled at the Glenora Distillery & Inn on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. In addition to being a whiskey distillery, Glenora also has a hotel and restaurant with some of the best cuisine on the island.
The Cabot Trail is considered to be one of the most beautiful routes in Nova Scotia. We explored it for two days on our road trip and were on the trail of the Scots who had settled Cape Breton from the 18th century.
We explore the Ceilidh Trail in Nova Scotia and discover real insider tips. However, you have to take your time. It is worth going down to one of the harbors, one of the bays or one of the sandy beaches. Unlike the Cabot Trail, the beauties are not directly on the main road.
