The wine country of Franconia

They offer you a variety of wineries and vineyards to visit. The wine region stretches along the Main and its tributaries, where the vines thrive on Franconian shell limestone soil.

In the city of Würzburg, which is also known as the heart of the Franconian wine country, you can visit the well-known Juliusspital, for example. Here you can not only taste the wines, but also take a tour of the historic wine cellar.

Another worthwhile destination is the town of Volkach, which is considered the "gateway to the wine country". Here you will find numerous wine bars and wineries that you can visit. In the vicinity of Volkach you can also discover picturesque vineyards and idyllic places.

And if you want to extend your wine tour a little, I recommend a trip to Iphofen. The city is surrounded by numerous vineyards and offers you an impressive old town that invites you to stroll.

Another great destination is the Franconian Lake District. Here you can visit numerous lakes, such as the Brombachsee or the Altmühlsee, and enjoy the sun with a refreshing swim in the lake.

Last but not least, I would like to recommend the cities as excursion destinations in Franconia. I can recommend the city of Nuremberg to you. There are not only numerous historical sights, such as the Kaiserburg or Nuremberg's old town, but also a wide range of cultural activities, such as the German National Museum or the Museum of Industrial Culture.

There are countless sights in Bamberg, such as the famous cathedral, the old town hall or the baroque residence. But a walk through the picturesque alleys of the old town is also an absolute highlight.

Another highlight in Franconia is the spa town of Bad Kissingen, known for its healing thermal springs and idyllic location. Here you can not only relax in the numerous wellness facilities, but also walk through the beautiful spa gardens. Bad Kissingen also offers a wide range of cultural activities, such as the Obere Saline Museum or the Kissinger Summer Festival. A visit is definitely worth it!
