As travel bloggers, we have had many great experiences all over the world, and we know that this job is a real dream job. But we did not expect that we as travel bloggers would also move on the international political stage. The President of Ireland receives us in Dublin.

Invitation to St. Patrick's Festival in Dublin

However, this is exactly what happened a few weeks ago. At short notice, an invitation from the Irish Tourist Board fluttered into our house to take a trip to Dublin for the St. Patrick's Festival. "Very nice," I thought. "I've always wanted to experience that." Petar said just as spontaneously as I did, "Of course, we're going there." Just a week later we were on the plane from Munich to Dublin - with nervous stomachs, because our travel program was in itself.

Reception by the President of Ireland

As soon as we arrived in Dublin, the President of Ireland welcomed us to his residence in Dublin, along with other travel bloggers and press people from all over the world. We owe this honor to the fact that in 2013 he invited Irish emigrants and friends of Ireland from all over the world to a meeting of all Ireland fans on the island. The Gathering was a year-round series of events that draw people from all over the world to Ireland. There you should get to know the Irish culture and way of life better and deal with it directly.

Each of us was personally introduced to the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins. He then greeted our colorful bunch in Gaelic. I'm sure it's not often that he welcomes such a mixed company of visitors to his Phoenix Park residence. But that was precisely what was moving. We were three travel bloggers from Germany. The others in our group were radio, online and TV journalists and travel bloggers from Canada, the US, India, the Netherlands, and many other countries around the world. Mr. Higgins introduced us to the project "The Gathering" in his welcome speech. He pointed out how widely Irish heritage has spread around the world throughout history.

Experiences while visiting Ireland

On the following days we were able to immerse ourselves in Irish culture with its music, dances and, above all, the lovable Irish people. We got to know them well in the few days of our stay. Whether this at Marching during the People's Parade was on ours Visit to one of the city's traditional cafés or when Visit to the Guinness Brewery. Everywhere people were friendly and welcomed us with open arms. Some even did so in the truest sense of the word. For that reason alone, our visit to Ireland was certainly not the last. We will definitely come back to Ireland. We are already looking forward to discovering more of the Emerald Isle. However, we will not forget our reception by Michael D. Higgins, the President of Ireland.
