The Far View Lodge

The only hotel in the National Park is the Far View Lodge. The lodge is approximately 15 miles from the park entrance. The Far View Lodge has 24 rooms and public rooms in a southwest ambience. There are two room types: Kiva and Kiva Deluxe View. In the Kiva Deluxe View rooms you have a view over the landscape. From your balcony you can watch animals and have a magnificent view of the starry sky. The Far View Lodge offers the pure Mesa Verde experience, with no TVs in the rooms and no internet access. Instead, guests can easily observe wildlife here.

Perfect for a multi-day stay in Mesa Verde National Park

It is particularly suitable for those who want to spend several days in the National Park. The lodge is situated in the park at the junction of the access road and the two roads leading on to the Cliff Dwellings of the Cliff Palace, Spruce Tree House and Balcony House. The other road branches off at the lodge to Wetherill Mesa. If you want to see both routes, you should plan at least one day for each. Are longer hiking trails planned, then it is worth adding another day each way. Then there is also time for the museums, shops and hiking trails along the way.

The Far View Lodge offers accommodation as well as a restaurant. Breakfast and dinner are served in the award-winning Metate Restaurant, an à la carte restaurant. For lunch in Mesa Verde National Park you can either plan a picnic. Or you can stop off at one of the coffee shops or cafés further in the park. But beware! Not all viewpoints have shops, cafes or restaurants. You should definitely have a few snacks and enough water with you.

There are only a few motels near Mesa Verde National Park. The closest is in Mancos, about a 10-minute drive from the national park. The rest are in either Cortez or Durango.

 

Mesa Verde Motel in Mancos

The only motel near Mesa Verde National Park is the Mancos motel. It takes ten minutes to drive to the National Park Visitor Center. The national park is 18 km away. Two restaurants and a café are nearby.

Each room has a separate entrance. There is free WiFi, a hot tub and free parking. There is a sitting area in the room. They also offer a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee-making facilities.
