Enjoy the CN Tower View from a Boat

The CN Tower is one of Toronto's most famous attractions. It is the tallest building in Canada, towering many meters above all surrounding skyscrapers. It can be seen from many locations during a drive through the city. However, as we discovered during our stay in Toronto, the best way to see it is from a boat. Alternatively, you can also enjoy the view from the barrier islands in Lake Ontario, which are only accessible by ferry from the Toronto docks. Three of the excursions, from which you can see the CN Tower view from the boat, we would like to introduce you here:

Boat trips from the Toronto Docks

At our Stroll along Toronto's waterfront We see a variety of boats at Toronto's Queens Quay docks: among them are elegant yachts like the Capt. Matthew Flinders, the sternwheeler Mariposa Belle, the smaller excursion boat Rosemary, the Showboat, which reminds us of the boats cruising on the Mississippi, and the Oriole, which also resembles the riverboats in the American South.

All of these boats belong to Mariposa Cruises, which offers a variety of excursions: brunch cruises, lunch cruises, and dinner cruises, always with food and a great view from the lake back to downtown Toronto and the CN Tower. Which boat is used depends on the number of passengers. It's best to ask which boat is operating the tour when you buy your tickets.

There are trips with a tall ship

A sailing trip on Lake Ontario for the CN Tower view from the boat

A few steps further along the waterfront, past the restaurants at Queens Quay, you'll see a tall ship moored at the pier: the Kajama. It's truly something special to cruise across Lake Ontario on a three-masted vessel, which looks particularly impressive when its sails are up. It's a bit like being transported back to the days when seafaring was still a true adventure.

The tall ship cruises the lake for an hour and a half, offering stunning views of downtown Toronto and the Toronto Tower. A truly amazing experience!

Take the ferry to the Toronto Islands - see the CN Tower view from the boat

During our stay in Toronto, we didn't have time for a boat trip on one of the historic ships. Instead, an event during our travel blogger conference was taking place on Center Island, the—as the name suggests—middle island in Lake Ontario. We reached it by ferry, which runs regularly between the Toronto docks (near the Westin Hotel) and the islands.

We spend some time on the island and take a walk, enjoying various views of downtown and the CN Tower. It's an inexpensive and beautiful way to see Toronto from the lake.

The CN Tower is the most beautiful view from the boat at night

Which of the three excursions is the most beautiful? That's hard to say, as they are all different. But they all have one thing in common: a wonderful view of downtown Toronto and a perfect view of the CN Tower.
