Alpine wellness at the Snovik thermal spa in Slovenia
Slovenia's highest thermal spa, Snovik, is located in the Alps. We visited the Snovik thermal spa in June and spent three relaxing days there. Anyone looking for a relaxing holiday surrounded by nature has come to the right place. The spa is located in a quiet side valley just outside the village of Snovik.
- Internationally, too, it is evident how diverse wellness can be.

We also found very comfortable and spacious accommodation in one of the apartments at the Eco Spa. Our apartment consisted of a bedroom, a living room, and an open-plan kitchen with a dining area. From the balcony, we also had a beautiful view of the valley and the Steiner and Sanntaler Alps.

The Eco Spa at the Therme Snovik
Both the apartment complex and the thermal baths place great emphasis on sustainability and environmental protection. Both facilities pay particular attention to keeping their ecological footprint low.
For this, the thermal baths and the Eco Spa received the international Eco Label in 2008.
Healthy living, nutrition, and a healthy environment are prerequisites for this. Guests can self-cater in the apartments or use the spa's restaurant.

The development to the thermal bath
The thermal spa is a project that emerged in its current form after Slovenia's independence. Several partners from the region joined forces to develop the hot springs into a thermal spa. However, the local population had long been aware of the water source, which never froze in winter.
The water was popularly believed to have healing powers. People from the surrounding area still get their drinking water from a tap in Snovik because they believe in the water's healing powers.
Other spas, which we can recommend
From bathing pond to thermal baths
The thermal baths eventually emerged from a pond used by the village youth. At the beginning of the construction project, the water was tested, and it was found to be rich in magnesium, calcium, and beneficial minerals, making it excellent for drinking.
In 2006, it was officially certified as a medicinal water. It helps with spinal disorders, rheumatism, and osteoarthritis. If consumed over a longer period of time, it also helps with stomach and intestinal complaints.

Our stay at the spa in Snovik
We stayed overnight in Snovik to explore the beautiful surroundings of Kamnik, the Tuhinj Valley, and the Kamniska Bistrica Valley. The thermal spa, with its Eco Spa, offers the only four-star accommodation in the region.
Especially in smaller facilities like this one, it becomes clear how much overnight stays at thermal baths can change the experience. Those who stay for several days use the pools and relaxation areas differently than those on a short visit. We'll give you an overview of the differences between various types of thermal baths with overnight stays: Spa stays with overnight accommodation – which option suits you best?
What we particularly enjoyed, however, was the peaceful location amidst nature. Walking trails lead from the thermal baths into the surrounding mountains. Those specifically looking for accommodations where relaxation and tranquility are paramount will find what they need in our overview of... Adults-only hotels worldwide different ways in which houses can create this atmosphere.

Excursions in the area surrounding the Snovik thermal baths
For a trip from the spa The beautiful Kamniska Bistrica river valley is definitely a good choice. It's just a few kilometers away, as are the town of Kamnik and Slovenia's highest mountain pasture, Velika Planina. Due to the bad weather, we were unable to visit it. The clouds hung too low in the valley.
We used the few hours of sunshine that were available to us to visit the Arboretum Volcji Potok not far from Kamnik, which is also worth a visit.

Alpine wellness sounds pretty relaxing. In any case, on our next trip to Carinthia we have decided to make the jump across the border to Slovenia to get to know this country.
I can only recommend it, Sabine and Tom. Slovenia, although small, is very diverse. And especially the alpine regions are beautiful.
Exciting to read, Slovenia is still a completely white undiscovered spot on the travel map for us. When the time comes, we know a very extensive source of information with your blog!
We have been exploring Slovenia only for a few years now. Until then, we only knew the small stretches of coastline in the country, and we just drove through the rest. We were all the more surprised when we discovered how varied the interior of this small country is. There is still a lot to explore.
Slovenia is worth the trip. The beautiful natural landscapes, the clean barrel and largely deserted coasts inspired me during my trip last year. In the karst landscape there are many caves, springs and thermal baths. I am looking forward to travel to Slovenia again. Greetings Andreas
In any case, Andreas. We have been to Slovenia several times in recent years, and although the country is small, it offers a variety of landscapes and cities that are worth exploring.
