Vacation in Vancouver, where Hollywood stars live

It rarely happens to me that I miss the sight of a holiday rental, I've stayed in many luxurious accommodations on my professional travel. But as I enter the apartment on Keefer Street on the edge of Vancouver's Chinatown, my breath hurts. We leave the elevator and stand in the middle of one of the most elegant apartments I've ever seen in my life. Decorated in subtle shades of brown, beige and cream, it emphasizes the elegant ambience of this spacious two-storey apartment.

We are located in the penthouse apartment on Keefer Street 135 in Vancouver. The property had been announced as a luxury boutique apartment, and I had expected the usual facilities of a hotel. When we stand in front of the house, there is nothing to suggest that rooms are rented here. And nobody opens our ringing. Only when we call the manager, she comes with the key and leads us into this elegant living paradise. If you want to spend your holidays, you can do so to escape the usual hustle and bustle of the hotels, because as a guest you live here practically as in your own apartment - only with a facility that probably have the least of us at home.

Our landlady first introduces us to the intricacies of the apartment. And they have it all! What looks like a mirror is one of the biggest flat screens I've seen so far. TV as in the cinema is announced here. The kitchen of the penthouse is equipped with everything a housewife could wish for. Everything works at the push of a button, you just have to know which one to press. And that's not so easy. I'm just wondering if anyone actually uses this kitchen, because those who live here will hardly do this to cook during the holidays. At any rate, we limit ourselves to making coffee and prefer to go to the Chinese bistro next door for dinner, which is very good, by the way.

On the lower floor of the penthouse there is the spacious living room separated by a glass front from a small and intimate balcony. Unfortunately, we are here in March, a time of year when you do not like to go outside in Vancouver. But I can well imagine that during the summer evenings you can review some eventful days over a glass of wine over the rooftops of Vancouver. Separated by the kitchen equipped with all chicanes and a spacious dinette, the sleeping tract with its two comfortable bedrooms, which can accommodate four people, follows.

However, the most impressive highlight of the penthouse is the attic. The stairs from the kitchen wing go up and we almost have the impression that we are climbing an attic. The door to the roof opens above our heads like access to the storage space on the roof in my parents' house. But how astonished we are when we step outside: a narrow swimming pool with turquoise water extends over almost the entire length of the roof. There is a cozy seating area on one corner of the roof, which is sure to tempt you to spend whole afternoons in the summer - especially with the view of downtown Vancouver and the mountains in the north of the city. On the other side of the pool there is a large barbecue kitchen where you can fry steaks and sausages for a large family or a large number of friends, of course also with a great view of the city. “If you stay here, you don't have to do without the comforts of life,” I think to myself. "And you have unlimited privacy in this apartment."

This, as our landlady Maria tells us, is not only used by different Hollywood stars, who like to live here during the filming of their films, which are produced in Vancouver. On the roof terrace of Keefer Street, Owen Wilson and Steve Martin have already celebrated barbecue parties with their film crews. No, even families or groups of friends like to come here to spend a holiday away from the usual hustle and bustle of the hotel. The night in the penthouse on Keefer Street is not cheap, but if you want to afford a very special holiday and discretion seeks, this is the right place.
