Volkach
Volkach is a Franconian wine-growing town located on the Main River loop, just a few kilometers from the Main Island. Delicious red and white wines thrive on this island. The wines from the steep slopes on the other bank of the Main are also particularly good, where the grapes receive particularly abundant sunshine. Volkach It is also a historic wine-growing town where wine has been produced for centuries. It has a picturesque market square.
On this square, there are several restaurants where you can sample your first Franconian wines. Best served with onion bread or Franconian bratwurst. A visit to Volkach is especially enjoyable during wine festivals. The people of Volkach also know how to celebrate their wine and themselves. You can easily combine this with a wine weekend.

Sommerach
The Franconian wine town is smaller Sommerach on the island of Main. There are places in the Franconian wine region that are particularly attractive. Sommerach is one of them. It has been awarded gold medals several times in the "Our Village Should Become More Beautiful" competition, as well as at the "Entente Florale," where it received the highest award for its floral decorations. Town houses and half-timbered houses give Sommerach a very special ambiance.
The town's wine shop, the Winzerkeller Sommerach, is worth a visit. There, you can not only taste wines, but also take guided tours through the vineyards. The wine school is fascinating, where you can learn a lot about wine, for example. Or would you like to take a cooking class where you'll learn which wine pairs best with which food? Ochsenfurt
The city Ochsenfurt am Main is not just worth a visit because of the wine. It is also one of the places worth seeing in the Würzburg wine region. The city calls itself the “City of Towers”. This is because the city wall of Ochsenfurt is almost completely preserved. City gates and towers still watch over the city today and give it a medieval flair. The New Town Hall from the 15th century and the magnificent half-timbered houses in the city center contribute to this. With its two breweries, the city is not only popular with wine lovers.

Miltenberg for a wine weekend
For the last wine village on the Main on our wine weekend in the Franconian wine country, we first leave the river banks and drive to Miltenberg on the Main in ChurfrankenInteresting for wine lovers is Miltenberg mainly because – in contrast to the wine regions mentioned above – more red wine is grown here.
The region owes this primarily to the loamy and clayey red sandstone soils and its location in the valley basin between the Odenwald and Spessart mountains. This basin-like location also ensures a particularly mild climate. Therefore, Burgundy wines grow under perfect conditions on the slopes of the Main River around Miltenberg. Naturally, Miltenberg also celebrates wine.
